Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. UrbanHiring shares information with third parties only in the situations below. Advertisers never receive your name, email address, phone number, resume or applications.

  • Employers or our recruiting clients when you apply for a job
  • Service providers who help us run the site (hosting, email delivery)
  • Google, as our analytics and advertising provider, which receives cookie, device and usage information as described under Cookies and Tracking and Advertising
  • Authorities when the law requires it
  • Anyone else only with your explicit consent

Cookies and Tracking

UrbanHiring uses a small number of its own cookies, and our partners Google Analytics and Google AdSense set cookies too. Our own visit statistics are anonymous: they use random ids, never your name, email address or IP address, and they are only used to see which pages and sources help job seekers.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them, but saved jobs and prefilled application details will not be remembered. You can also install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

  • Essential: job_portal_session and XSRF-TOKEN keep the site and its forms working and secure (they expire after 2 hours without activity)
  • Saved jobs: vid, a random id that remembers the jobs you saved on this browser (1 year)
  • Application details: apply_profile keeps, encrypted and only on your browser, the details you typed in your last application so the next form is filled in for you (90 days). Use "Not you? Clear details" on the application form to remove it
  • Visit statistics: _tv (30 minutes) groups the pages of one visit, and _tu (about 400 days) tells new and returning browsers apart. With them we record the pages viewed, time on page, how far you scrolled, actions such as starting an application, where the visit came from and the device type, plus a country taken from your browser's time zone
  • Google Analytics: Google's _ga cookies measure how the site is used on our behalf (up to 2 years); Google processes this data under its own privacy policy
  • Advertising: Google AdSense and its partners set cookies such as __gads and __gpi on our domain and IDE on doubleclick.net to show and measure ads, limit how often you see the same ad and prevent fraud (up to 13 months). See Advertising below

Advertising

UrbanHiring is free for job seekers and is paid for partly by advertising. We use Google AdSense to show ads on our pages.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to UrbanHiring and/or other sites on the Internet.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info or, in Europe, www.youronlinechoices.eu. If you opt out you will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to you.

  • Ads are selected and served by Google. Ads are labelled "Advertisement" so they are not confused with job listings
  • Google may collect your IP address, browser and device information and use cookies, web beacons and similar technologies to show and measure ads
  • If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before cookies are used for personalised ads, and you can change your choice at any time
  • Google is currently our only advertising partner. If we add another ad network, we will name it here with a link to its opt-out page

Job Search API for AI Assistants

UrbanHiring offers a free, public job-search API and MCP server (see our developer guide) so that AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude can show our open jobs and link to them. It shares only job information that is already public on our job pages. It never shares candidates' personal data, applications or resumes.

  • Our servers log requests to the website and the API (IP address, time, the address requested including search words, and browser type) for security, rate limiting and troubleshooting. These logs are kept for a limited time and are not used to profile you
  • Links that come from an assistant carry a tag (for example utm_medium=api) so we can count visits that started there; we do not learn who you are in that assistant
  • What you type into an AI assistant is handled by that assistant's provider under its own privacy policy

Children's Privacy

UrbanHiring is a job site for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their details, contact us and we will delete them.
